I left Grevataki Bay and headed southeast, circumnavigating the most southwestern Peloponnese cape, then returning northwest up to Gargaros where anchored. However failing the anchor holding steady in 20kts of wind I weighed anchor and moved late afternoon to Zanga or Zaga Beach where despite equally strong winds I got the anchor well dug in and eventually stayed 2 nights. Picturesque little town with a good and well visited beach. Following 2 rather uncomfortable nights due to swell I weighed anchor once more and headed for the last anchorage before Kalamata. Petalidi proved to be an excellent anchorage fairly well sheltered in shallow waters, I dug in at 4m.
Also here during the daytime there were blustery southerlies bringing in some heavy swell which fortunately settled in the evening allowing me to row across to the beach to eat at an Italian Restaurant and also top up in preparation for the first few days in the Marina Kalamata once more with groceries at the local Mini Market. The final passage to the Marina Kalamata was extremely uneventful with 1~2kts of wind at its best so I ended up motoring for 3 hours across the Messiniakos Kolpos or Messenian Gulf to reach my Mooring planned for the next year or so.
I loved every day of the Voyage from Izola to Kalmata, saw some very interesting places and experienced the out of the ordinary on many occassions. This will most probably be the last (very) long Voyage I make, however I am looking at some shorter passages in the next couple of years, maybe around the Cyclades, I will of course report back 😉
