Week 04 and the first week into June I departed from my first arrival port in Greece on the Island of N Othonoi in a small Marina named AvLakia heading for Marina Gouvia on Corfu. Unfortunately the damage to the Forestay and Selden Furlex was a little more extensive, following being able to finally lower the Genoa the local Rigger explained that not only was there damage to the lower Furlex but 2 Sleeve halfs (Selden PN 539-321) had disintegrated in the upper Swivel which hindered dropping the Genoa and further more, upon inspection the lower wire terminal was showing signs of corrosion and had actually retreated about 4mm back over the wedge. All saftety related thus I decided to delve into my accruals and have the Forestay Wire and terminals replaced. I was stuck a whole week in Gouvia, however the break was due and welcome. Some images of the damages.
Passages Week 04
Week 05
I remained docked in Rouvia at the beginning of week 05 awaiting the Sleeve halfs for the upper swivel and the following reattachement of the Forestay to the yacht without I cannot move- Finally got underway, Genoa working like a dream getting me to Armos Oxia and its Mooring Buoys following a day and night passage. End of the week I was moored at the Patras Habour (Marina was closed) before motoring under the Rio–Antirrio Bridge the world’s longest multi-span cable-stayed bridge.
Following the Passage under the Rio–Antirrio Bridge, sailing against a 20Kts head on wind I finally stopped at a lovely place calles Galaxidi for 2 nights, refuelled and restocked with provisions before the final passage up to the Corinth Canal. I made my last stop before the Canal in Vracháti, ca. 7NM before the West side Canal entrance for 2 nights.
Passages Week 05
That raped it up for Week 04 and Week 05. Week 06 took me through the Corinth Canal, more to this on the Week 06 and Week 07 page.
